Video and image services
Videos load the YouTube player only after you press play. We use YouTube’s privacy-enhanced embed domain. Thumbnails may be requested from YouTube’s image service before playback; that service receives the normal information in an image request. When you play a video or open YouTube, its own privacy practices apply.
The Redgie Map
The interactive map loads map tiles, styles and fonts from OpenFreeMap, using OpenStreetMap data. Loading these resources sends normal technical request information, including your IP address, to the map service. The map does not request your device location. Hotel searches and filters run in your browser and are not sent as analytics events. Google Maps opens only when you choose a hotel’s external map link; Google’s privacy practices then apply.
The hotel recommendation form saves the hotel or destination, location and reason you provide, along with your optional name and email, in a private review queue hosted by Supabase. Cam uses these details to consider future showcases and respond if you provide an email. Recommendations and contact details are not published automatically, and we do not use them for marketing. A temporary, hourly changing code derived from your IP address helps limit spam; the recommendation queue does not store your raw IP address. We review submissions and remove details when they are no longer needed. You can email Cam to ask for your submission to be removed.
Hosting and technical requests
The site is hosted on Vercel. Serving a page involves technical request information such as your IP address, browser and requested page.
Vercel website measurement
On bebaffled.com, we use Vercel Web Analytics to understand which published pages people visit and which links they open on YouTube and RateDrop. The click data identifies the destination service, the type of link and the published BeBaffled page. A click does not tell us whether someone watched a video, subscribed, made a booking or saved money.
Our Vercel measurement sends only reviewed page paths and fixed click labels. We remove query strings and fragments from measured page URLs, and do not send names, email addresses, full outbound URLs or link text as click data. Visits with detailed external referrer URLs are excluded from Vercel measurement.
Vercel’s analytics service also processes technical information such as browser and device type, approximate location, time and an origin-only referring website where available. It uses a temporary identifier to count visitors without analytics cookies. We do not send it a user ID. See Vercel’s Web Analytics privacy information for its data-handling practices.
Optional Google Analytics
On bebaffled.com, Google Analytics helps us understand visits to published pages and clicks through to YouTube and RateDrop. We use the country supplied by Vercel to apply regional consent choices. In Australia, New Zealand and the United States it starts automatically unless you have declined; elsewhere, or if we cannot determine your country, the Google tag stays unloaded until you choose “Accept analytics”. You can choose “No thanks” or change your choice at any time using “Analytics settings”. A Global Privacy Control signal from your browser also keeps Google Analytics off, even if you previously accepted it.
When Google Analytics runs, Google uses first-party analytics cookies to recognise a browser across visits and processes information such as page views, device and browser details, approximate location and referral source. We send reviewed page addresses without query strings or fragments, an origin-only external referring website where available, and fixed labels for YouTube and RateDrop clicks. We do not send names, email addresses, account identifiers or full outbound links, and we do not enable advertising personalisation or Google signals.
Your Google Analytics choice is stored in this browser for up to 180 days. Withdrawing consent stops further Google Analytics collection and removes its cookies from this website. The choice applies to Google Analytics; it does not change the separate Vercel measurement described above. See Google’s privacy policy and how Google uses information from partner sites.
Links to RateDrop
RateDrop is a separate website under common ownership. Our outbound links carry campaign parameters showing that a visit came from BeBaffled and which page it came from. They do not contain your name or email address. Any account or booking information you provide there is governed by that service’s own privacy terms.
